howto improve the performance of your beryl desktop
This is the worlds shortest howto on speeding up beryl performance. This tip has sped up beryl performance on my desktop machine running and NVIDIA 7600 video card, and on my laptop running an intel 945GM integrated graphics chip. This is a really straightforward tip. Before making the changes set out below, windows when moved around the screen had a noticable "jerkiness". The jerks were miniscule, and very fast, but it just didn't feel "smooth". Afterwards, animations feel smooth and fluid. You can definitely feel the difference. So on with the tip:
Open beryl-settings-manager. In the General Options page, under the Main tab, uncheck Sync To VBlank, uncheck Detect Refresh Rate and change Refresh Rate to 200. See the screenshot below:
